Google Now Use Twitter Facebook And Site Speed To Help Rank Your Blog

Best Blogger Tips

Google originally made its name by using a Page rank system based on links throughout the web to return relevant search results to users.Although there were many search engines available before Google the page rank system simply returned better results to users.Page Rank (Googles Internal Page Rank Not So Much Toolbar Page Rank, a long story) is still the major factor in how search results are delivered and things like Back links and anchor text are still the major players and always will be.However over the years Google have added lots of other factors in how they return their search results, they claim there is over 200 components used to deliver the results we see.A couple of noticeable more recent additions to this are Social Media and Site Speed.

Social Media

Google now use sites like Facebook and Twitter in the ranking.

Site Speed

The load time of your blog also has an effect in the search results, at the moment it is only a very small effect.

But page speed is important in many other ways also, people stay on faster loading sites longer and view more pages.People are more likely to return to fast blogs and the whole experience is better.Over the last 6 months i have made Spice Up Your Blog twice as fast as it was and have seen the benefits.

You can analyze the speed of your blog using the Google Page Speed Tool.

5 Link Building Mistakes

Best Blogger Tips

Link Building is an important aspect of any website SEO campaign. Lots have been written about it and that’s why we are not going to discuss here “how to get backlinks for your site “. As clear from the title of post, we are concentrating on things which should be avoided during link building campaign.
Why does anyone try to increase the backlinks? Obviously to increase SERP of site and to improve SEO and page rank. But what if same process acts in the other way? Wrong link building strategy can really hamper your site in search engine rankings. So while increasing backlinks try to avoid the these basic mistakes

1. Same/Single Anchor Text

In link building tips you will always find to use anchor text and put your keywords in anchor text. But what if you start using single anchor text in each link building technique e.g commenting, forum signature etc?
Search engines algorithms are much refined and smarter now. It would signal that they are not the natural links, rather they are manipulated for improving search engine ranking for a specific keyword. So use a set of anchor texts instead of using single anchor text.

2. Rapid Increase in Backlinks in Short Period

There are many link building companies offering their paid services to increase the inlinks in short time. By using such services your links might increase in a short time but again would it be look natural that you have 1000 links at start of January and 10000 links at the end of January?  Obviously, no.
So if it’s not looking natural to you, same is the case with the search engines. Link building is an ever going process and should be increased at natural pace.

3. Major Chunk of Links from Single Site

Your link should be well distributed over different WebPages. I have personal experience of it. My blog was having Google Page Rank 2 after few months of its creation; it was free Blogger hosted blog at that time, I tried to increase the inlinks by joining a SEO forum and took part actively on the forum and after few days my links increased, but at next Google pagerank update my blog rank came down to zero. After trying to asses what has happened actually, I came to the conclusion that it’s because my major inlinks (about 90%) came from a single site.

4. Excessive Link Exchange

Link exchange is another link building technique in which two publishers exchange their links to have good ranking. Do not exchange link excessively as it will not look natural. Google Matt Cutts said in an interview that
“At first we said avoid the reciprocal links. Really, what you need to do is avoid the excessive reciprocal links. So we added the word excessive.
Because, if you look at the Google directory, which is like the open directory in Dmoz except with PageRank and the Yahoo directory, it’s almost certain that Google links to Yahoo and Yahoo links to Google on some level.”
So one can exchange the link but if your site has excessive links to sites which have your links, then it can cause trouble.

5. Excessive Links from Low Rank Sites

Its one of the basic things in link building that a link from a quality site is better than 100 links from low rank sites. So try to get the quality link by using methods like interesting and topic related comments, writing guest posts etc. It’s better to invest time to have the permanent quality links rather than to waste hours in getting low links.

Meta Tags

Best Blogger Tips
The <META> Tag is a little bit different than the Tags we have already covered. The <META> Tag is known as a one-sided Tag since it requires no Closing Tag whatsoever.
Let's look at an example of how the <META> Tag is used:
<HEAD>
<TITLE> HTML Clinic - HTML Help For All </TITLE>
<META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="html,help,tag,clinic,free,table,form,code,">
<META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="Top-Rated HTML Resource on the Web">
</HEAD>

ALL of the <META> Tags are entered between the <HEAD> and </HEAD> Tag set. The order you put them in is not important. Enter at least these two meta tags on each page.

The Meta Tag Attributes

The Attribute and Value entries work differently in Meta Tags than in other HTML Tags:NAME=
This Attribute only serves to give the Meta Tag an identifying name. In the example, you will notice I have used two of the most common Names, "KEYWORDS" and "DESCRIPTION".
CONTENT=
All this Attribute does is define what Content is to be associated with the Name you defined in theNAME= portion of the Meta Tag.
So, now, if you look at the example above you can see I have defined my first Meta Tag as the"Keywords" Meta Tag and have included a set of keywords (with a comma after each keyword) as the Content for that individual Meta Tag.
The second Meta Tag I have defined as the "Description" Meta Tag and I have included a short, detailed description of my site's highlights as the Content of that Meta Tag.

Other Commonly Used Meta Tags

<META NAME="AUTHOR" CONTENT="Your Name Here">
This tag lets you define who wrote your web page. You can use your real name, online name. or the name of your company. For example: "Bravenet Dave"<META NAME="COPYRIGHT" CONTENT="Enter Year And Company Name Here">
This tag allows you to define when your page was created. As the writer of your page you hold the copyright to the material on it. This does not allow you to claim the copyright on other people's works even if they appear on your page.
<META NAME="CONTACT_ADDR" CONTENT="Your Email Address Here">
This tag allows you to define the email address people should use to get in touch with you. For example: "webmaster@htmlclinic.com".
<META NAME="RATING" CONTENT="Add Your Rating Here">
What audience is your site geared towards? Possible values: "GENERAL""14 YEARS""MATURE", or"RESTRICTED".
<META NAME="ROBOT" CONTENT="Enter The Value Here">
Do you want search engines to index other pages on your site? When a search engine spider visits your page it will most likely try to follow your links and index every page it encounters.
Possible values:
"ALL"
This will tell a search engine spider to follow ALL the links on your web page and index everything it finds.
"NOINDEX"
This will tell a search engine NOT to index this page at all, but it can follow any links on the page.
"NOFOLLOW"
This will tell the search engine spider to index this page, but NOT to follow any links on this page.
"NONE"
This will tell the search engine NOT to index or follow any links on this page.
<META NAME="REVISIT-AFTER" CONTENT="Enter Value Here">
This tag lets you tell a visiting search engine spider when to come back and index the site again. Possible values can be any amount of time you want: "10 days""2 months" "1 week" or whatever.
<META HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="2;URL=http://www.server.com/page.html">
You can use this tag to set up a redirection to another page. You can send your visitors to a different specific page by including this tag.
In the value portion of the CONTENT= attribute put in the number of seconds to pause, followed by a semi-colon, then type URL= and then add the address of the page you want the visitor to go to, just like this:
"2; URL=http://www.server.com/page.html".
So, after 2 seconds I would be whisked away to http://www.server.com/page.html.

Meta Tags: why you should use them

When you submit your site to a Search Engine, it sends a little program called a spider to visit your site and gather information about your site.The spider will take certain bits of information from your coding to determine what each page is about, and where and how it should be displayed to a person using the Search Engine. Most Search Engines will use your Meta Tag defined keywords and description to perform this task.
It is important to make sure that the keywords you use are relevant to your page. It is also VERY BAD to repeat any keyword more than 3 or 4 times. Search Engines will view this as an attempt toSPAM your keywords and probably drop your page altogether from the Search Engine listings.

Google +1 button and SEO

Best Blogger Tips
Google, the internet giant based in California, has had a strangle hold on much of the online market for the past decade. Most would struggle to find a single person in the Western World who is not yet familiar with the Google Search Engine. In fact the search engine is so popular that the phrase 'Google it' has been adopted by many Gen-Yers.
In addition to their massive presence in the search marketplace, Google also commands a large percentage of the online advertising industry, generating revenues in the region of US$35 billion per annum.
Facebook, a relatively new comer to the internet, and center of popular film The Social Network, is quickly closing on Google's market. Currently Facebook ranks as the 2nd most visited website online globally and holds over 750 million member accounts. Facebook is beginning to threaten Google's market dominance in online advertising due to the huge volume of data that the social network holds about its members. While Google's advertising model focuses around what people are looking for, specifically using search queries, Facebook's model allows advertisers to utilize behavioural targeting. A Facebook advertiser can select very precise advertising audiences by focusing on: - Age - Gender - Location - Employment Type - Education Level - Likes and Dislikes
By selecting a narrow cross section of the global audience by one or all of the above variables, an advertiser can see significant improvement in their ROI when compared with search or conventional marketing.
This is where Google Plus enters the scene. In May Google released a limited Beta of their new social network, to approximately 10 Million users. Google Plus, similar to Facebook, allows users to create profiles, enter personal details, connect with friends and join a global community online. The Google +1 button is the equivalent of Facebook's Like button - allowing users to show their approval of an idea, concept, website or product and broadcast this to their network.
It's not a new concept that Google uses a number of user specific factors to influence their search results. These have historically included the user's location, past search history, bounce rate from certain sites, browser setting and a host of other signals to indicate whether or not a search result is likely to fit the user's specific requirements or reason for search.
While not officially announced as yet, the Google +1 button will affect the manner in which search results are returned to users. The very nature of a social network suggests that people who are connected will share similar likes, beliefs and ideas, and consequently are likely to be interested in the same websites, resources and search results.
It follows then, that the connections of a user who have historically +1ed any given search result will have these sites promoted up the list of future search results due to perceived validity and relevance of that result.
So, when will this new ranking factor, or as Google now refers to them signal, start influencing search results?
That's a tough question, and it's likely only to be once the Google Plus and +1 button programs reach a critical mass. That is where the number of +1s reaches a volume and velocity that indicates considerable adoption by the searching public.
You can already see the impact of +1 within your own search results, i.e. complete a search; navigate to page 3 of the results and +1 a single result Google returned. Now complete the same search again, it's likely that the result you +1ed will be elevated within the new set of results. This is exactly the same behaviour we expect to see once Google brings +1 and Plus into full swing.
We expect that this will become a ranking factor around the end of the year, likely in time for Christmas shopping season.
What can you do to gain the maximum benefit from +1?
At present the +1 signal is only being used to influence a user's personal search results, but this is likely to change late this year so it's time to get started on a strategy to make the most of this opportunity. This way when Google flicks the switch you will receive all the benefits of being +1ed and you will surge ahead of your competitors within specific market segments.
By now your web developer or SEO firm should have already contacted you offering +1 integration; it's a good idea to get Facebook Like done at the same time. If not, get in touch with the team that manages your website and request them to place the +1 button prominently on your site. The button is pretty funky and modern and is not likely to do any damage to your branding or design. Make sure you are communicating with your clients, visitors and connections to ensure they +1 your site. The earlier you start work the sooner you will see results.

Link to sites that your website visitors might be interested in and only ask for those website owners to link you back whose website visitors might be interested in content of your website.
  17. Myth: Website with higher PR (Page Rank) will always rank higher in SERP (Search Engine Result Pages)”. Fact: You should always keep that in mind that Page Rank is just 1 criteria for SERP there are more then 200 criteria for that . If search engines think that the website with lower PR (Page Rank) have more relevant content for the keyword then the website with higher PR (Page Rank) then the website with lower PR (Page Rank) will rank higher in SERP.
  18. Myth: We should place our all keywords in H1 tags Fact: Using Header tags is always helpful in SEO but if you are using H1 tag multiple times on your web page then search engines can punish your website for that.
Now these were the few myths that we have discussed in this articles. I am sure that you will be able to over come these myths and making your website better for visitors of your websites as well as for Search Engines.
